Head (Academic Health)

1. Personal goal options:

  • To improve reading ability, and/or writing ability, and/or mathematical ability in order to improve overall academic ability and/or performance in school
  • To graduate from high school
  • To obtain a GED
  • To get into a vocational school
  • To score well on the ACT in preparation for college

2. Program goals:

  • Individual placement testing & educational/tutorial planning based upon personal goal selection
  • To facilitate the realization of JIFF participant's academic goals
  • Provide all JIFF participants with a minimum of 16 tutorial sessions based specifically upon his/her personal academic goal selection
  • Improved academic performance of all participants based upon specific needs and goals as follows:

    If: To Improve reading ability, and/or writing ability, and/or mathematical ability is chosen,
    Then: Increase *Lexile scores by 30-50 points in reading comprehension, and/or improve writing or mathematical ability based on pre & post test. *(Scholastic Reading comprehension Program)

    If: To improve academic ability/performance in school is chosen,
    Then: Improve academic performance as evidenced by reduced truancy and improved grades in conduct and academic subjects

    If: To graduate from High School is chosen,
    Then: Improve attendance & necessary academic performance in required subjects leading to graduation  

    If: To obtain a GED is chosen,
    Then: Improve scoring in GED content areas based upon pre & practice test, and/or successful completion of the GED program

    If: To get into a vocational school is chosen,
    Then: Work in an advocacy and support role leading to vocational school placement

    If: To score well on the ACT in preparation for college,
    Then: Improve scoring in ACT content areas based upon practice, &/or actual test, and provide advocacy and support services leading to college placement
