Educational Advancement

In order to provide a career path and opportunities for at-risk youth, JIFF started offering a culinary arts training program. The program runs 19 weeks, and is followed by a 6-week externship in the foodservice industry.

During the program, youth ages 16-22 learn safety and sanitation, food preparation methods, life skills, and how to be proud of their own achievements.

Chef Felicia Williams leads the culinary program based on American Culinary Federation curriculum. Class size is limited to 22 students and  meets 4 days per week, for 5 to 6 hours per day. The curriculum includes ServSafe certification, resume writing, interview skills, front-of-house training, and daily devotion.

The JIFF Culinary Arts Program works with the following community partners: Great American Steamboat Company • Aramark Food Services • Morrison Cafes • Southern Hospitality • Lenny’s Sub Shops • Waffle House • L’Ecole Culinaire
